Tomorrow's Military Medicine Starts Today

The science of how the body responds to damage, injury and infection is scattered and siloed across multiple medical disciplines. Defendim attempts to integrate this science into a single field of study in order to holistically understand human physiology and pathology. We apply these insights to the design of biomimetic proteins and other therapeutics aimed at rebalancing dysfunctional systemic responses. Our focus is on severe critical medical states where there are major gaps in effective care.

As a young intern, the company founder, Dr. Malon Kit experienced the frustration associated with the  tragedies of patients in medical and surgical ICU's. Fifty years onwards the same complications of surgery, trauma, infection persist with only modest improvement in both short-term and long-term clinical outcomes despite extraordinary gains in the scope and depth of scientific knowledge. Defendim was founded with the aim of translating scientific knowledge to the bedside through the development of innovative therapeutics.
